Early morning start.
Takes some muscle.
Anna is glad Dale does this part.
Making his own sand sculpt.
Helping Dad get water.
Shovel, shovel, shovel...
Our two greatest blessings...
Misty, cool, morning... perfect!
Pile is getting tall...
Pile is finished... it's a blank slate...
Using wet sand to make humps and bumps that will eventually become the face.
Flattening the sign that the sun will be holding.
You can see some of the bumps that will become the face.
Finishing the sign.
Anna uses the pink and white striped straw to blow loose sand out of the letters she's carving.
Getting sand off the top of the sunglasses.
It's getting there...
Our main goal in going out and doing these sand sculptures is to be a witness for Jesus.
As you can see, people on the pier take photos of the sand art, and share needGod.com unintentionally.
Sometimes photographers come by...
We also give out our "business card" to those who come up and talk to us... it's really a gospel tract!
The crowd on the pier was pretty constant because of the volleyball championship that day.
Pretty frequently we take breaks to talk to people about Jesus, and to give out gospel tracts. These ladies were professing Christians who were very encouraging.
We pray that the people share the pictures they take and that many will visit the gospel website.
Trying to carve the top sun rays without getting loose sand all over the face.
Finishing up the edge.
Since there was a surfing contest going on behind us, Anna carved an invitation for them to come around and see what was on the other side!
From the back, the top sun ray looked a little like a shark fin... Kinda weird. So this is what we wrote on the back...
Ray Comfort (of Living Waters), stopped by. He's been faithfully open-air preaching at the end of the HB Pier every Saturday for years. It is such a joy and blessing to have him as a friend.
As this moves you can get a little more of a 3-D feel to the finished product.
There it is! *whew*
Here's a different angle after the sun had moved in the sky a little and was casting sharper shadows.
Little closer on the face.
Our close friends sometimes stop by to give us encouragement. :-)
The reward of an icy drink and a Guacamole burger... Ahhhhhh...
We're tired but happy.
God bless you all, and thank you in advance for praying for our next project!
